Today's Inspiration: Fur

Photos: Tumblr

I love mixing up the textures in my outfits, with leather and fur a particular favourite.

So with fur being a key staple again for A/W I'm fully embracing this fluffy trend as much as I can. From furry slip ons to that Topshop faux fur clutch there are now more options than ever to mix up those textures.

How will you be wearing fur this A/W?

Storage Wars

I'm currently on a mission to declutter my life so a trip to Ikea was definitely in order.

I actually went to specifically get a new Billy Bookcase but they'd sold out of the white (sad face), but it's all good as it just gives me another excuse to go back soon.

They'd also sold out of the cacti I wanted and so I settled for this cute little snake plant, which I'm actually now getting rather attached to. I'm terrible with plants so I'm really hoping that it doesn't die anytime soon.

I also picked up these little glass pots, perfect for storing my cotton wool pads and buds; a dish for my rings (although it's actually a candle holder), a plant pot for my make up brushes and a glass jar for my nail polishes...all for under £15. Bargain!

Fix Up, Look Sharp

Shoes: Mango

I know this is another post about shoes...I do buy clothes, honest! But I just wanted to do a quick post to declare my love for these beauties.

I've been on the hunt for a simple pair of flats that are appropriate for dinner dates with the boy when I can't be bothered with heels (we all have those days) and these will definitely do the trick. Anyone else loving all the pointed flats available at the moment?

Black Magic

Coat: Topshop | T-Shirt: H&M | Jeans: Topshop | Shoes: Topshop

OK, first of all I am aware that I am wearing sunglasses inside in these photos, but I was in a bit of a rush to go out and the bags under my eyes were so horrific that I really didn't want to have to subject you to them.

So I've been on a hunt for a new coat recently and despite my substantial collection, I didn't actually own a plain black everyday coat. I'd spied a few in Zara that I was deliberating but then I found this beauty in Topshop. Sure it's pretty plain...but that's exactly what I wanted. Something that I could easily throw on rather than having to plan an outfit around.

And I know this seems like a bit of a Topshop heavy post today but they just had sooooo many amazing pieces in that I couldn't resist. I particularly love these zip pocket jeans which I think work really well with the chelsea boots.

I finally feel ready to take on A/W '14!

Today's Inspiration: Autumn Coats

The best thing about the beginning of Autumn? Shopping for new coats. I'm thinking a creme, knee-length, wool blend piece is going to be adding itself to my wishlist.

August Favourites

I can't believe it's the end of another month already...this year is flying by way too quickly.

With Summer bidding us farewell, I spent this month hanging on to it as much as possible. So when the rains weren't pouring I was found donning my beloved Zara slides. They have definitely been one of my favourite purchases over the summer and have been so easy to style. I wish this love affair could continue but I don't think my toes will thank me for the frostbite.

When I had my hair cut I stocked up on lots of new haircare products, one of which was this Toni & Guy sea salt texturising spray. As I'm not having my beach holiday till November I decided to recreate the beach hair look right here at home. It took me a few tries to work out how much was the right amount to use to get the perfect look, but now that I have I will definitely be repurchasing once this bottle has gone.

My love of monochrome stretches far and wide...even to the tips of my fingers. This month I've forsaken all colour and opted for either black or white nails depending on my outfit, and with these Essie polishes I can ensure my nails stay chip free for days.

Grid Locked

Top: Topshop | Skirt: Zara | Shoes: ASOS | Bag: Celine | Bracelet: Tiffany & Co

Last week was definitely an eventful one for me, as I finally started my new job...which I love! I really feel like life is now getting back on track and I can resume all of the wedding planning which has seriously taken a back seat of late. (Trying not to have a mini panic about that right now though).

But this weekend, was a time to focus on another wedding and for me what I would actually wear. I have to confess I'm not very good when it comes to these sort of events. I always seem to have a bit of a melt down about my outfit a week before and rush out to buy a backup. And this was no exception.

After I purchased a pencil skirt from ASOS last month, I began to think of all the things that could go wrong. Would it split down the back when I tried to sit down? (it was quite tight!), would my Spanx show through? Would I actually be able to walk or would I have to waddle like a penguin?

In the end I decided that I should branch out and try the A line midi, so I set off for my old favourite Zara where I picked up this white cut out skirt for a bargain £12.99! Paired with my mules I thought this skirt was perfect and I have to say I think I'm converted.

This week I also rewarded myself with a lovely new DSLR camera. So this should hopefully mean that better photos will soon follow on here...just as soon as I work out what on earth I'm doing!
